About the Role Provide assessment and treatment of patients in PECC and The Department of Emergency Medicine (ED) at Royal North Shore Hospital and provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary Mental Health teams in ED and PECC.
Purpose of the Position Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).
The position will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.
The position will supervise a psychiatry registrar associated with the role.
Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained substantial specialist pathways. Applicants expecting to be awarded their FRANZCP within 6 months may be considered. Appropriate experience to practice as Senior Medical practitioner in psychiatry together with a demonstrated interest and experience in acute inpatient service. The capacity for involvement in education, training, supervision and liaison in Emergency Psychiatry across a variety of professional disciplines and settings. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to work within a team. Demonstrated ability to work with staff from a variety of professional disciplines.
