About the Role The Geriatrician will be part of the BRACE service which is a multidisciplinary team that provides outreach support to Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) and Northern Beaches Community residents that have an acute illness and are at risk of hospitalisation.
As part of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, BRACE is also working closely with RACFs to assist them in preparing for, and responding to, COVID-19 outbreaks.
Purpose of the Position Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facility or service.
This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.
The role has two key responsibilities:
Providing clinical management of RACF residents, including performing home visits, telehealth consultations, and supporting other medical, nursing and allied health members of the team.Supporting RACFs during the COVID-19 pandemic by undertaking readiness activities (e.g.
scenario testing and advising on outbreak management plans) and being part of the 'Strike Force' team that would lead our response to a COVID-19 outbreak in a RACF.The role will be primarily based at Mona Vale Hospital, and Northern Beaches LGA, but may be required to support RACFs in other areas in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak.
This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need.
Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
