This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 160 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
About the role The DroneShield Tech Team is expanding and is looking to recruit an NPI Engineer to work with the Design Team, Quality Team and Production Team in taking product prototypes through to production. This role will be heavily involved with the build and test process and will develop documentation for DroneShield's in-house Production Team as well as contract manufacturers. Experience with RF, electronics and Python for test scripts and task automation is preferred.
The position will report primarily to the VP of Design. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail and a passion for technology who wants to develop their career in a fast moving ASX listed defence technology company.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Develop and maintain assembly documentation in collaboration with the Design and Production TeamDevelop and maintain production QC documentationIdentify inefficiencies and automate production tasks using tools such as PythonDevelop IQC and OQC requirements in collaboration with the Quality TeamWork with suppliers to resolve part quality issues and implement supplier level QC processesTrain DroneShield production staff and contract manufacturers on correct assembly and testingCommunicate required design changes to the Design TeamDesign and develop test jigs for DroneShield products to improve assembly efficiencyQualifications, Experience and Skills Experience in electronics assembly and testing of low volume, high complexity equipmentExperience with RF equipment and testing preferredDegree in Engineering, Industrial Design or relevant certificationAbility to understand complex concepts and processesExcellent written and visual communication skillsExperience writing instructional documentationFamiliar with Solidworks and Solidworks ComposerExperience automating production processes through the use of PythonStrong troubleshooting skillsPassionate about technologyExcellent attention to detailAbility to work autonomously and as part of a fast-paced teamRespect and appreciation of process, doing the right thing even if no-one is watchingStrong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and handle pressure"Can do" attitude and willingness to help in variety of tasks, including occasional tasks unrelated to the core roleSuitable to hold a security clearance if required
