The Northern Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Alliance (NATSIHA) is a regional representative entity for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health and Wellbeing Services Sector in Far North Queensland.
NATSIHA's vision is to achieve equity in health and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Far North Queensland.

Purpose of Position Lead the Corporate and Governance business function of NATSIHA, with a focus on delivery of the following three strategic objectives:
Drive an organisational culture of good governance and compliance. Provide oversight and facilitation of NATSIHA's key compliance delivery areas. Evolve NATSIHA's stakeholder engagement and media relations. Key Responsibilities Drive an organisational culture of good governance and compliance through streamlining policies, registers, and training tools; facilitating and leading continuous improvement opportunities across the organisation; building effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders; and providing advice and support on governance and compliance matters to the Chief Executive Officer and member organisations. Provide administrative support and facilitation of NATSIHA's key compliance delivery areas, including but not limited to Board meetings and associated documentation processes as well as any applicable reporting. Maintain and evolve NATSIHA's key processes and communication channels, including assisting in delivery of updated brand and associated documentation, templates etc; ensuring the curation of effective content and driving the redevelopment of NATSIHA's website, social media and other communication channels to promote a proactive, innovative, and empowered organisation; and assisting with the annual operational/strategic planning process. Assist in development of advocacy and deputation documentation and planning. Assist the Chief Executive Officer in developing, monitoring and reviewing budget(s). Assist in responding to tenders and funding opportunities as required. Participate in special projects and perform any other duties as required. Comply with NATSIHA health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure safe work practices and a safe work environment is always maintained. Model a positive culture by living the organisational values through actions and behaviours. Maintain and/or extend knowledge and skill base required for effective performance. Maintain productive working relationships and provide team support. Participate in own performance review and identify learning/development needs. Negotiate with line manager to complete appropriate education and training. Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to promote and implement governance, policy and compliance best practices. Demonstrates sound corporate governance by maintaining a high standard of practice through governance and risk management and demonstrates a high level of personal integrity. Take personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work, demonstrating sound judgement and decision making, and modelling ethical and respectful behaviour to achieve outcomes. Engage well with others (internal and external) - understand their needs, be proactive and self-directed, working flexibly with minimal supervision, and are able to generate new ideas or business improvements. Can communicate with influence to help educate and advise on best practice. Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, divisions, and stakeholders by developing effective networks, consulting, negotiating and collaborating to achieve results. Commitment to align to the principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control. Relevant tertiary qualifications or regulatory experience will be highly regarded. Preferred skills and qualifications Demonstrated high level proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and other relevant business management software. At least five (5) to eight (8) years' experience in a similar position coordinating governance for a medium size organisation. Demonstrated team leadership and change management experience highly desirable. A current (open and unrestricted) Queensland Driver's Licence. A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture and Lore. Reporting This position has primary accountability to the Chief Executive Officer and has no supervisory responsibilities for other staff.
This is a full time, fixed term role for 12 months with possible extension.
Salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
Salary sacrifice options are available, 5 weeks leave with 17.5% leave loading and superannuation in accordance with legislative requirements.
