Procurement Manager North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney's picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD.
Are you an experienced procurement professional with a passion for delivering high-quality services and driving process improvements? Do you thrive in a leadership role, guiding a customer-focused team to provide strategic procurement, purchasing, and contract management services? If so, we want you to join team NSC as our Procurement Manager!
The role As the Procurement Manager, you will oversee a team that provides vital operational support to all Council staff and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless coordination of policy, systems, service levels, controls, and transactions across the organization's procurement processes. This role requires someone who can manage the activities of the Procurement team while delivering expert advice on procurement, purchasing, and contract management.
Key responsibilities will include: Procurement & Sourcing: Offer expert strategic advice on procurement, sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management to achieve value driven outcomes. Operational Management: Oversee procurement operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services, while maintaining sustainability and compliance with Corporate guidelines. Process Improvement: Streamline procurement processes, enhance tracking and reporting capabilities, and develop KPIs to measure procurement efficiency and effectiveness. Policy and Procedure Development: Write, review, and promote procurement-related procedures and guidelines, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Council's commitment to sustainability and community objectives. Cost Reduction & Savings: Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements, managing the implementation of changes in procurement practices. Financial Management: Oversee the financial interface of procurement, ensuring budgetary compliance, and providing regular reports to senior management. Leadership: Provide supervision, mentoring, and support to the team and ensure that all team members deliver excellent customer service across Council.
