Description: Serves as a liaison with campus partners during the planning and execution of orientation programs.Assists in developing and delivering training sessions for Gator Crew members in March-May, as well as the Freshman Gator Crew retreat.Conducts benchmarking projects related to orientation and new student transition programs.Communicates information about orientation and deadlines to admitted students through email, phone calls, and social media.Assists in the planning and implementation of new student transition (orientation) programs.Serves as a resource to incoming students, parents, and guests by sharing information about a variety of aspects regarding the UHD community.Initiates and develops communication with students and family members attending orientation.Works with faculty and staff members, Gator Crew, and UHD administration to facilitate the success of all aspects of the new student transition programs.Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of New Student Transition Programs and Welcome Center and others assisting with the program.Serves as a role model of positive behavior, representing the University with pride and respect, in and out of the classroom.Maintains confidentiality of student records, and maintains appropriate relationships.Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must be punctual and present for all scheduled Gator Ready, Transfer Orientations, and Gator Gateway sessions.Gator Crew training will take place on Fridays during the Spring.Training is mandatory.
Sessions will cover University policies and procedures, the history of UHD, team building, personal leadership exploration, group dynamics, public speaking, diversity, etc.Commit to attending all training and orientation program days.Free from other commitments to allow participation at all transition program events.Maintain a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative grade point average during the time of application and time of employment.Qualifications: UHD current student with a 2.5 GPA or higher.Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the university.About University of Houston Downtown: Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is the second-largest university in Houston and has served the educational needs of the nation's fourth-largest city since 1974.
