Job Description Position objectives:
This position has the responsibility to oversee the successful operations of the Stawell Sports and Aquatics Centre Leisure and Recreation programs and the St Arnaud Swimming pool (seasonally) ensuring high quality and responsive sports and aquatic programs are delivered to the community in an environment that is family focused and maintained in a safe, aesthetically pleasing environment.
Key Responsibility Areas: Drive the implementation of the Stawell Sports & Aquatics Centre business plan. Lead the operations of the St Arnaud swimming pool including staffing, programs and plant room management. Drive marketing campaigns and initiatives to increase patronage to the Centres. Manage Plant Room operations with support from trained staff. Deliver a customer-focused service ensuring quality and responsive customer service and administrative services are maintained in line with Council's policies and guidelines. Create an environment that will ensure the delivery of responsive and effective day-to-day operations, facility management, membership optimisation and reporting. Provide leadership and supervision of Leisure and Recreation Staff including preparation of rosters, professional development and mentoring. Monitor and record achievements of recreation and leisure activities and ensure targets are met with regards to deliveries and costs. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and quality assurance systems to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of patrons using the facilities. Oversee the maintenance, upkeep and cleanliness of the facilities, including preventative maintenance in accordance with health and other regulations. Oversee all financial functions for Aquatic and Recreation services including invoicing, receipting and purchasing. Ensure client information is kept in line with Privacy legislation. Control the team's budget through appropriate monitoring, measuring and reporting processes. Monitor and control the team's performance against operating plans, financial budgets, identify variances and remedy or advise the Head of Active Communities of appropriate action taken. Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbent's skill, competence and training. Desired Skills and Experience Qualifications and experience:
Passion for Recreation, Sports Management, Exercise Physiology or relative discipline, coupled with relevant work experience. Desirable (not essential): Northern Grampians Shire Council will support the successful candidate to become certified and gain the necessary skills they need to perform the role.
Level 2 First Aid & CPR or willingness to become certified. Pool Lifeguard Certification or willingness to become certified. Austswim Certification or willingness to become certified. Pool Operations / Chemical Handling or willingness to understand. A degree or diploma in Recreation, Sports Management, Exercise Physiology or relative discipline. Leadership skills or willingness to attend training and coaching. Selection Criteria: Proven practical experience of the day-to-day operation of a sports and/or aquatic service, working with patrons and service providers or relevant experience with transferable skills. Ability to manage staff and deliver a teamwork program on time and within budget or willingness to learn. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve specific and set objectives within the available resources. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to provide a high level of customer service. Excellent communication skills, with experience in consulting with a wide range of audiences including the ability to deal with the community and professional industry to achieve the best possible outcome.
