We are seeking a skilled A-Grade Electrician / Electrical Fitter to join our maintenance team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Electrical Fitter will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems as well as equipment within our manufacturing facility and office. Experience in pneumatics, electronic drives and control systems, excellent knowledge of PLCs, excellent fault finding and troubleshooting abilities is required, as well as being able to work both independently and within a team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes, contributing to the overall success of our company.
Safety is paramount at Opal, so adhering to OH&S procedures and tasks is paramount in this role. In addition to all aspects of electrical & mechanical maintenance, the position is also responsible for ensuring safe work practices are always achieved and that company policies and practices are adhered to. All relevant licensing and industry documentation relevant to performing tasks must be readily available upon request.
We currently have 1 position available on day shift, with a flexible working arrangement available.
The Role will be based permanently out of the Oakleigh South Site.
The base working hours can be between 34-38 hours per working week over 4 or 5 days.
Remuneration for the role will be based on skill level and experience.
Key responsibilities of the role would be:
Electrical Installation: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and equipment in accordance with blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities to ensure the continuous operation of electrical systems and equipment, adhering to maintenance schedules and protocols. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety standards and regulations, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment repairs, replacements, and inspections, to facilitate tracking and reporting as required. Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including production, engineering, and maintenance teams, to coordinate electrical work and support cross-functional projects and initiatives. Training and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to electrical systems and equipment, actively participating in training programs and skill development opportunities. The right candidate should possess the below:
Proven experience as an Electrical Fitter or similar role in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of electrical principles and practices. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs effectively and efficiently. Knowledge and compliance of safety standards, regulations and protocols pertaining to electrical work, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Disassembling, assessing, repairing, and reassembling machines, equipment and components. Maintaining equipment condition and reliability so that company quality and safety targets can be achieved. Provide reasonable site support outside of normal working hours as required. Play a pivotal role within a team focused on the development and execution of efficient preventative maintenance practices. Ensuring timely action and satisfactory completion of PM work. Provide technical support to the Maintenance and Production teams. Assist with ordering components and liaise with external suppliers and OEMs as necessary with appropriate approval. Work as directed by relevant Managerial and Supervisory staff. Available to work overtime if required. Valid Victorian Driver License. Forklift Licence (Desired, Not Essential). Boom and Scissor Lift Experience (Desired, Not Essential). All candidates should possess valid VISA and working rights in Australia.
