About the Position
Position Description The Integrated Youth Services Project Manager is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the first 18 months of the Integrated Youth Services (IYS) program at New Dawn. IYS is a safe place for youth to get support for mental health issues, addictions, and other needs. For more information, visit IWK Health .
The IYS Project Manager is responsible for liaising with coalition partners, advisory committees, government funders, and the community at large, ensuring the project design, delivery, and timeline reflect the needs of youth in the CBRM. They will also serve as the main point of contact for the project contractor during renovations.
Duties and Responsibilities Serve as primary contact for the project contractor during space renovations Coordinate space for meetings on site at New Dawn Act as the go-to person for everything involving the project's organization and timeline Attend all construction/design team meetings as a representative of New Dawn Complete tasks assigned or assumed between meetings to ensure project flow Involve other New Dawn staff as needed to ensure questions/topics are addressed Carefully review agenda and meeting materials prior to contractor meetings Serve as site point of contact for project, addressing questions/needs of site supervisor and/or trades Proactively anticipate and identify risks (to construction, budget, timeline), raise anticipated risks with contractor, and work collectively to resolve them in advance Continuously evaluate success and identify areas of improvement for future projects Report and escalate issues to management as needed Maintain close, open, ongoing relationships with all project partners and stakeholders Help collaboratively develop, articulate, and abide by project goals and vision Engage stakeholders in the space design and renovation as needed Ensure final space is reflective of the needs of the youth of the CBRM Provide stakeholders with regular updates on project progress and timeline Work with partners on community engagement/education efforts around the project Project Budget and Timeline: Maintain sole responsibility for project timeline and budget on behalf of New Dawn/owner As challenges/changes arise with the timeline, work closely with the contractor to resolve favorably Engage others from ND and the coalition partners when trade-offs are needed to meet budget Maintain excellent records of the project – records will inform operations/warranty in the future Seek out external advisors as needed if/as project budget and timeline challenges arise Ask at each meeting with the contractor: are we on time and are we on budget? Community Engagement Tell the story of the project as it unfolds Understand who the project stakeholders are and engage as appropriate Keep the CBRM community informed of progress Respond to community inquiries in a respectful and informative manner Work with provincial funders and partners to create and maintain social media momentum/presence for the project Represent the project in the media as inquiries are received Project Planning Develop a detailed project plan to track progress Identify and track needs, timelines, and milestones for contractors and project partners Qualifications Minimum one (1) year experience in a project management role Current and up-to-date Criminal Record Check Good interpersonal skills Exceptional attention to detail Highly organized and able to work well under pressure Able to work independently as well as with a team Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Maintains positive working relationships to achieve organizational goals Willing to accept responsibility, show good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness Adheres to principles of confidentiality, complies with training and ethical guidelines Demonstrated project management experience and/or construction experience Work Conditions Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals Overtime may be required; working evenings/weekends as needed Interacts with employees, management, and the public Environment can be busy/noisy at times About New Dawn New Dawn Enterprises Limited is a private, volunteer-directed non-profit social enterprise dedicated to community building.
