We anticipate adding a further 1.0 FTE Stroke Lead/Neurologist shortly, with plans for an additional 0.5 FTE Neurologist, totaling nine colleagues at TWH. Our district is committed to developing Neurology and Stroke services, and we welcome new colleagues to our friendly department in the beautiful Illawarra region.The Neurologist will provide clinical care to Neurology patients, including Stroke patients, with responsibilities including call and outpatient care, participating in all Neurology Department activities, and engaging in both General Neurology and acute/subacute Stroke on-call rosters. The role allows for subspecialty interests, particularly in Neuroimmunology, Cognitive Neurology/Neurodegenerative, Headache, and Neuromuscular subspecialties. The Neurologist will support the development of Neurology services, promote a culture of learning and best practices, and participate in teaching and clinical governance activities.Advanced Trainees expecting to receive FRACP within 3-6 months may be considered for this role.ISLHD offers a healthy work-life balance, covering an area of 5,687 square kms with beautiful beaches, coastal cycling tracks, lush rainforests, and friendly communities. We have a well-developed research support unit offering extensive research support services.Selection CriteriaSpecialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Neurology and/or equivalent and specialist recognition and further training qualifications in Stroke.Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements.Proven capacity and experience in providing effective high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice.Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students.Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary health care team.Geographical availability commensurate with rostering and patient care responsibilities.Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District is committed to equal employment opportunity and embraces diversity and inclusion within its workforce.
