ISLHD – Staff Specialist Neurologist Employment Type: PermanentPosition Classification: Staff SpecialistRequisition ID: 503108 Hours Per Week: Up to 1.0 FTE Applications Close: 21 November 2024 Staff Specialist Neurologists in the ISLHD, to integrate with our existing ISLHD team of six Neurologists at TWH plus one based at Shoalhaven, with anticipation of a further 1.0 FTE Stroke Lead/Neurologist for the district joining us in the short term, and district undertaking toward a further 0.5 FTE Neurologist to a total of nine colleagues at TWH. We seek experienced Neurologists with a high level of expertise who can demonstrate commitment and capability to deliver Neurology Service within the ISLHD. The Neurologist will provide clinical care to Neurology patients including Stroke patients with clinical responsibility including call and outpatient care commensurate with colleagues and involves participation in all Neurology Department activities, including both General Neurology, and acute and subacute Stroke on-call rosters, and clinical consultation service onsite and remotely across the district. The role incorporates scope for subspecialty interest. All subspecialty interests are welcomed and encouraged to apply, with particularly Neuroimmunology, Cognitive Neurology/Neurodegenerative, Headache, and Neuromuscular subspecialisation demand in the district. The Neurologist will proactively support the development of Neurology services, facilitating a culture of learning and best practice, participating in teaching and clinical governance activity and supporting other service development and research objectives. The role encompasses participation in General Neurology Department activities including both General Neurology and acute and subacute Stroke clinical duties and some participation in the on-call roster and care for both Acute Stroke/stroke and General Neurology presentations. The Neurologist will proactively support the development of Neurology services, facilitating a culture of learning and best practice, participating in teaching and clinical governance activity and supporting other service development and research objectives. Selection Criteria Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Neurology and/or equivalent and specialist recognition and further training qualifications in Stroke including research. Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position. Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty. Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and other staff of the hospital. Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
