The Role As Systems Administrator you will be accountable for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous execution of administration processes for both on-premises and cloud infrastructure at Merivale.
The role is integral to ensuring the optimal performance and security of our IT systems.
This is a fixed-term 12-month contract position.
Core Accountabilities System Maintenance and Monitoring: Regularly monitor, and?troubleshoot system performance, and apply updates and patches using tools.
Handle user account creation, management, and password-related tasks.
Hardware and Software Management: Using tools (e.g.
Intune) to install, configure, maintain hardware/software, and manage system backups and recovery.
Configure and maintain network services, ensuring security and regular updates.
Implement security measures, conduct audits, and respond to security incidents.
Backup and Recovery: Create/manage backup procedures.
Develop and maintain system documentation and generate performance/activity reports.
Provide in-person technical support to users and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
Plan system upgrades and design new solutions for enhanced efficiency and reliability.
Ensure systems comply with policies and regulatory requirements, enforcing IT guidelines.
The Essentials A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology and relevant certifications essential (e.g.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or ITIL Foundations).
1 - 3 years of experience demonstrating the following technical competencies: Operating Systems: Proficiency with Windows Server and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud services such as Azure and/or AWS.
Virtualization: Knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation and/or other virtualization technologies.
Networking: Understanding of network configuration, security, and management using tools like Cisco Umbrella.
Security Management: Implementing and managing security measures and controls.
E.g.
experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
Database Management: Experience with database technologies like Microsoft SQL and/or Snowflake.
User Management: Proficiency with identity and access management systems such as Microsoft Entra/ Universal Desktop/Intune/Adaxes.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Familiarity with monitoring and operational support tools like ManageEngine/Landesk.
