Randstad Defence is currently partnering with a top-tier Defence company who are working on a critical enterprise network modernisation program. They will lead the planning and designing of the communications, surveillance systems, and network services to support the critical air traffic control functions. To support this program, they are looking for a Network Infrastructure Planning & Design Engineer.
This is a contract position based in their Melbourne office. As the roles involve working with high security networks, the eligible candidates must be Australian Citizens and eligible to get a Defence Security Clearance.
About the Role Create site designs and installation plans that meet regulatory, technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Prepare site designs including interconnection diagrams, rack layouts and Bill of materials artefacts. Create detailed network infrastructure diagrams and documentation. Integrate third party subsystems (e.g. VHF and ADS-B interfaces, monitoring systems, recording systems) into existing sites and services utilising modern network interfaces. Support transition and cutover planning and design activities for end customer services. Support the preparation of plans and procedures for equipment staging, Production Acceptance Testing, and Site Acceptance Testing. About you Bachelor of Engineering or similar degree, with relevant majors (ideally Electronics or Communications). Proficiency with network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools. Experience as an engineer on large electronic systems integration projects. Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings and technical procedures and the Australian electrical and communications landscape. Experience with customer requirements reviews, design reviews and/or test and acceptance events with the customer. Proficiency in PC skills including hardware and/or software installation or configuration. Domain knowledge of the Air Navigation Service Provider Industry, including provisioning, cutover and commissioning terminology (desirable). Familiarity with signaling protocols, TDM framing/timing, WAN/LAN, TCP/IP, ATM and specific routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, RTP, VoIP technologies, and VHF and ADS-B technologies.
