About the role We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to ensure adherence to IS-SPP (Information Security Strategic Policy Framework), Defence Security Policies and frameworks and other relevant security guidelines.
You will also provide day to day guidance to team members to meet routine security obligations.
An active NV2 Security Clearance is an essential requirement for this role.
About you Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Analyse alerts and alarms, classify and action in accordance with the customers IT Security guidelines.
Advise the appropriate parties when patches or updated vendor applications become available and assist with an upgrade when requested or practical.
Ensure that correct routing information, backups, file review and archiving, database purging and other routine housekeeping activities are performed.
Be responsible for changes to configuration of devices and servers, including the tuning of false positives, are undertaken in accordance with change control, release and configuration management guidance.
Monitor network data streams and event log data to ensure that Intrusion attempts are detected investigated and prevented.
Monitor network data streams and event log data to ensure that gateway operations are optimised and maintained and were identified improved Perform Vulnerability Management to ensure that all vulnerabilities to the network are identified and treated in accordance with set guidelines.
Ensure that service availability meets or exceeds customer service availability guidelines (SLA#s).
Maintains agreed security records and documentation.
Investigates identified security breaches in accordance with established procedures and recommends any required actions.
Assists users in defining their access rights and privileges, and administers logical access controls and security systems.

Serve as the technical escalation point for team members, providing guidance and support when needed.
Actively participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities within the Gateway Operations environment.
Offer valuable insights and expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
Requirements: NV2 Security Clearance essential.
Network experience (a CCNA is not required) switches, routers, SNAT/NAT General Firewall experience preferably a mixtures of Stateful and Layer 7 Firewalls Proxy experience Solaris or Linux/Unix experience understanding of commands and concepts is required Mail experience understanding the setup and maintenance of Servers and clients Troubleshooting experience - the ability to perform root cause analysis on network/computer issues on clients, servers and network equipment.
A general understanding of Computer/Network Security Policies and enforcement Load Balancing experience Experience in configuring and supporting Apache Experience in supporting a DNS environment.
Experience in supporting Windows Server and associated domains.
General scripting skills Shell, Perl, etc.
