Our Federal Government Agency seeks to engage a qualified Network Engineer to support the day-to-day operation and function of telecommunications networks and undertake sensitive complex work.
Responsibilities include: System Design and Architecture Analysis: Evaluate complex telecommunications systems and architectures, including data models and diagrams for system development and integration.
Network Infrastructure Monitoring: Research, analyze, and ensure optimal performance and resilience of telecommunications networks, resolving problems and emergencies.
Network Integration and Support: Advise on, document, and support network integration with multiple partners, aiding the transition to a hybrid cloud environment.
Operational Improvement Recommendations: Assess and recommend improvements for network operations and integrated systems.
Cybersecurity Compliance: Ensure compliance with cybersecurity patch levels and hardening for networking devices and server operating systems.
Network Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, test, maintain, and administer telecommunications networks and applications.
Network Programming Support: Provide programming support tailored to specific business needs.
Documentation and Procedures Maintenance: Prepare and maintain network procedures, inventory documentation, and records of network faults and modifications.
Network Performance Monitoring: Monitor network traffic, capacity, and usage to maintain integrity and optimal performance.
Essential Experience: Research, analyze, evaluate, and monitor network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, and recommend improvements for hardware, software, communications, and operating systems.
Install, configure, test, maintain, and administer new and upgraded networks, providing support and troubleshooting for network issues and emergencies.
Communicate effectively, anticipating stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network.
Proactively collaborate with key stakeholders and vendors, building relationships across IT partners.
Maintain and operate Layer 2 networks, including VLANs, Trunks, and Spanning-Tree.
Understand and use modern cloud-based networking technologies.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, providing clear explanations and justifications for recommendations.
Proactively establish priorities and manage risk to ensure successful delivery of events.
Desirable Experience/Qualifications: A relevant bachelor's degree or higher qualification.
At least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification Configuring and maintaining FortiGate firewalls Configuring Dynamic Routing Protocols such as BGP, OSPF Ddeploying and maintaining DWDM optical networks Troubleshooting L4-7 application performance problems Maintaining DNS and DHCP network infrastructure.
Job Details: Start ASAP to 30 June 2025 with 2x12 months extensions on offer Locations: Canberra ACT onsite.
