The role
Join the Bradfield Development Authority (BDA) and be part of the agency responsible for delivering Bradfield – the new city in Western Sydney. We are seeking an experienced Manager, Net Zero to establish Bradfield City Centre as a net zero precinct in line with the BDA's Sustainability and Resilience Strategy. In this pivotal role, you will support the Authority in addressing decarbonisation across all aspects of work, minimising offsets, and decarbonising through design, materials selection, supply chain engagement, and operations of assets.
As the Manager, Net Zero, you will be working closely across our sustainability function and all BDA teams. You will work closely with the Director Sustainability and the circular economy, climate change resilience and nature positive functions - to provide high-quality advice to effectively deliver positive environmental, industry, and community outcomes. Your responsibilities will also include leading research, analysis, and policy review related to achieving net zero, developing and implementing strategies for accounting, monitoring, and evaluating all net zero initiatives, and facilitating stakeholder engagement and consultation on net zero issues.

What you will bring to the role
Expert Policy Advice: Provide accurate and timely policy advice on net zero issues, understanding the problem and formulating responses within short time frames.
Strategic Approach: Address the complex interactions between decarbonisation, climate resilience, circular economy, and nature-based solutions.
Stakeholder Management: Manage consultations and negotiations with diverse stakeholders, balancing competing interests and demands.
Autonomous Decision-Making: Operate with autonomy, using initiative to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and work collaboratively with team members and colleagues across the organisation to achieve sustainability and resilience outcomes.
Project Management: Plan, lead, and organise work to deliver a net zero roadmap and actions for the Authority, ensuring high-quality support to the Branch.
Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, presenting complex information clearly and concisely for diverse audiences.

What is an essential requirement:
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (Carbon accounting, Sustainability, Science, Environment, Planning, Economics, Engineering) and/or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated experience in leading research and analysis, and in developing strategies and plans to support the delivery of projects with net zero principles.
Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders and working constructively with diverse project teams and delivery partners to deliver high profile projects and programs.
Demonstrated cross-cutting knowledge in sustainability, such as in circular economy, scope 3 emissions, sustainable procurement, sustainable construction, corporate sustainability strategy, nature and urban green and/or climate resilience.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to provide strategic advice to decision-makers.
