TITLE: Senior Tax & Compliance Specialist
LOCATION: Brisbane
REPORTING TO: Financial Controller
TYPE: Permanent Employee
POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for liaising with external tax advisers to manage the full tax compliance responsibilities for the business.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
End-to-end delivery of tax compliance functions. Maintain robust tax governance framework to meet minimum Tier 2 expectations of ATO as a top 1000 tax payer. Preparation and compliance with relevant taxation and legislative reporting. Not limited to the below:Taxation Returns Goods & Services Tax (GST) Fuel Tax Credits (FTC) Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) Payroll Tax Royalty Returns Land Tax Payment Times Reporting Monitoring any changes in tax compliance requirements or changes in legislation and ensuring the finance team are briefed accordingly. Preparation of the tax effect accounting and liaise with external tax advisers/auditors at reporting periods (half year & annually). Ensure effective controls are in place to capture tax & compliance information to ensure the financial information is accurate. Position papers for changes in relevant tax legislation. Liaise with the financial controller to maintain the integrity of the accounting system and ensure it remains effective for tax purposes. Review and enhance the internal processes to improve efficiency. Collaborate with stakeholders regarding tax requirements. Liaise & support key stakeholders both internally & externally where appropriate. Other ad-hoc duties as and when required. REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Thorough and current knowledge of Australian taxation legislation including employment taxes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Relevant Tertiary qualifications. Significant experience in a similar role. REPUTATION: Work in a manner that protects and promotes the reputation of the organisation.
SAFETY: Ensures a safe workplace for all staff and customers by maintaining compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Be pro-active & vigilant in the identification of workplace safety and health hazards. Reports all risks, hazards, incidents, near misses and accidents as per the correct procedure and acts to remove hazards where possible.
