The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability.Multiple new roles awaitThe Dispute Resolution & Litigation (DR&L) branch in the Chief Counsel Division is a growing in-house legal practice servicing the NDIA with legal advice and litigation support services on merits review matters for participants in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (Tribunal), soon to be known as the Administrative Review Tribunal.Where you can add valueAs an APS4 Lawyer (Legal Stream), you will be accountable for working closely with other team members to manage and advise on the Agency's legal risk through the provision of high-quality legal guidance, support, and contribute to services and the development of the Agency's in-house legal practice for applications in the Tribunal. The role is accountable for organising your own workflow and making decisions relating to your case load.Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Undertaking preliminary work to support senior lawyers including Principal Lawyers, Deputy Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel in advising on NDIS legal matters.Supporting and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and other stakeholders including courts and tribunals, other government agencies, states and territories, the legal profession, and people with disability and their representatives.Managing the priorities of clients and available resources to deliver results on time.Preparing and undertaking initial research and advice on low-risk matters, as they relate to Tribunal applications.Enough about us, let's talk about youThe successful candidate will possess excellent technical legal skills and demonstrated experience in leading legal teams to deliver high value outcomes for the NDIA. You will demonstrate experience in, or knowledge of, some or all of the following:Administrative law and principles of good administrative decision-makingAlternative dispute resolution, mediation and/or conflict resolutionLitigation, including in Commonwealth or state/territory courts and tribunalsStatutory interpretation particularly in relation to the NDIS Act and National Disability Insurance Scheme (Supports for Participants) Rules 2013.You will have a human-centred approach and the ability to thrive in a high-volume litigation environment.Your NDIA ExperienceWe work as one team.
