Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position with Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Mental Health but provides a service across the Nepean Hospital campus. Successful applicants will draw on a biopsychosocial cultural and spiritual frame and work with an interdisciplinary team to provide care to consumers who present to physical health/general hospital settings with mental health concerns. Activities include assessment, care recommendations, support of the primary team and stakeholder engagement, and disposition planning. Candidates should possess or demonstrate that they are working toward the CL Advance Training. The number of sessions will be based on 0.7FTE over a two-week period and appointees will be required to participate in the consultant on-call roster. Session allocation will consider service need. Selection Criteria Possess or be eligible for: registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZP) or equivalent; current NSW driver's licence. Demonstrated commitment to Continuing Professional Development and reflective practice. Demonstrated expertise and experience in providing effective, high quality mental health services in a psychiatry setting; demonstrated commitment to person-centred, recovery oriented, family inclusive, trauma informed and need adapted principles of care. Demonstrated ability to support and work in collaboratively interprofessional contexts; sound knowledge of psychiatry encompassing biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual domains. High level interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication ability including capacity to communicate clearly, inclusively, and respectfully. Demonstrated skill and commitment to the teaching and supervision of medical staff, non-medical colleagues, and students consistent with contemporary best practice. Qualities, attitudes, and articulated values consistent with a senior medical practitioner providing mental health care. Experience in or capacity for supporting quality improvement and clinical governance activities; and demonstrated commitment to high quality care provision in the public sector. Familiarity with and support of basic, clinical, and applied research activities relevant to the needs of the Mental Health Service. Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and the Staff Specialist (State) Award 2022.
