The Opportunity
Austal are looking for a Naval Architect to join our Design team in Henderson, WA. The successful candidate will be a qualified Naval Architect with excellent communication skills and a high level of commitment to assist with the design of our projects.
What's involved

Design of Commercial and Defence vessels
Design vessel local and global structure, equipment foundations, hydrostatic and stability calculations, resistance, and powering calculations.
Preparation of design and drawings including calculations and reports.
Selection and requisitions for hull, fire, and safety equipment.
Design in accordance with technical requirements (Specification, contract, and relevant rules).
Design in accordance with Austal processes for safety, quality, budget, and risk mitigation.
Provide Design support through production, commissioning, and delivery.

You'll need
Essential

Australian Citizen
Hold a Construction safety induction (white card)
Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture
Proven experience in the areas of vessel design and regulatory compliance
Proficient in Microsoft office, Maxsurf and FEA software

Desirable

5 years' experience in ship design and construction
Experience in the design of High-speed light-craft
