The CLCM performs asset, sustainment and engineering functions to optimise availability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and minimise risk through life of the PBS. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with Regional Maintenance Centre's (RMC) to plan maintenance activities and installation of capability upgrades. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with the Design Services Contract (DSC) to plan and execute engineering changes and services. The CLCM delivers functions against the contract scope across the Asset Class Enterprise to support Defence Maritime Capability.The Opportunity:KBR is seeking an experienced Naval Architect (Structural Engineer) to work within our CLCM team based out of Garden Island, Sydney.The Naval Architect will support the CLCM's 'Specialist Projects Team' through the analysis and development of engineering change with specific focus on requirements development, design, field service investigations, and response to technical queries supporting CLCM engineering activities.The Naval Architect will work collaboratively and provide guidance to all stakeholders on technical matters related to structures on the products being supported.The Naval Architect holds an Engineering Delegation and will execute risk based technical advice on sustainment activities in support of the Principal Engineer.Responsibilities:On various platform structures, provide Structural Engineering Subject Matter Expertise, technical guidance, leadership and direction in support of the Engineering Change activities required for the platform to meet the requirements of the contract from ACSSPO.Autonomously deliver engineering outputs for engineering changes to planned schedule.Deliver engineering activities to ensure compliance with approved policy, plans and processes. Conduct work to the requirements of the Engineering Management Plan and individual task plans.Exercise technical oversight and assurance over the engineering activities via the cycle of systems engineering, configuration control and materiel support processes.Provide governance of technical certification of systems including compliance with standards, specifications and regulations and assuring fitness for purpose on delivered systems.Manage the required systems engineering process including requirements engineering, integration engineering, verification and validation, test and evaluation, mechanical, electrical, structural and safety engineering.Develop tasking statements for design tasks to be executed in accordance with the planned schedule.Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop requirements and solutions to the requirements in the context of Engineering Change Management, Configuration management, Systems Safety and Certification.Review engineering design task deliverables and conduct associated technical Design Reviews.Work within and to the requirements of Navy Seaworthiness framework and the ACSSPO Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).Verify new Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) against the approved Requirements baseline, Certification Basis and Safety Case on the products being supported.As the ideal candidate you will bring:Essential:Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent, qualification in a recognised Engineering related discipline.Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review and Acceptance within a regulated technical framework, example Department of Defence.Hold, or be eligible for, membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineering.A minimum of 5 years related experience, with typical experience ranging from 5-10 years.Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.Eligible to obtain SQEP Engineering Delegation Authority within an Authorised Engineering Organisation.Desirable:Experience in a Department of Defence design delivery.Experience in marine design or maintenance.All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
