The Natural Environment Program Officer roles provide high quality environmental advice to enable delivery of the Victorian Government's Infrastructure projects including projects associated with the Major Road Project Authority, North East Link and Level Crossing Removal Authority as well as other state infrastructure agencies.
The role combines technical natural resource management skills with knowledge on environmental assessment and legislation to enable high quality environmental advice to be provided in succinct and timely manner to facilitate project development.
The successful applicant will have a proven ability to solve complex issues, demonstrate good influence and negotiation skills and have an ability to provide advice to, and build relationships with, a wide variety of stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic team with a positive culture, and to develop your skills within a flexible and supportive team.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications An appropriate tertiary qualification in science or natural resource management is desirable. Good technical knowledge and understanding of biodiversity issues, legislation and policy, specifically the Native Vegetation regulations and the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988, Environmental Effects Act 1978 and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation 1999 is mandatory. Knowledge and experience in threatened species management, including environmental assessments is desirable. There are two fixed term positions available until June 2025. The work location for these positions is flexible within Knoxfield with hybrid work arrangements available.
