About the Role:
The Natural Capital and Sustainability Manager will oversee a large aggregation of cattle and vegetation-based carbon properties in Queensland and assist in growing Wyuna's portfolio of projects and properties. This role represents an exciting opportunity to influence the deployment of a major Investment Fund towards opportunities that deliver tangible sustainability outcomes across Australia's farming landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the on-the-ground delivery of a portfolio of carbon projects and advise on strategies to maximize ACCU generation.
• Coordinate partnerships with carbon developers and service providers to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Wyuna's project portfolio.
• Oversee and report on a range of biodiversity and natural capital projects.
• Work with operational farm staff to oversee the delivery of Wyuna's regenerative farming platform.
• Undertake technical and on-ground assessments of potential projects and investments.
• Manage the Company's sustainability and ESG reporting requirements.
• Work with the General Manager and other farm staff in executing Wyuna's sustainable grazing policy and ensuring the integrity of carbon removal projects.
• Monitor carbon farming reforms and regulatory developments and maintain a network of industry stakeholders and partners.
• Provide regular reporting to Wyuna Executive and the Shareholders on various carbon and vegetation indicators.
• Mentor and work with staff and stakeholders in the operation of the Wyuna regen/carbon model.
• Monitor developments in natural capital markets and opportunities for Wyuna to drive improvements in biodiversity across its properties
Essential to the Role:
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in ecology, ESG, agriculture, or sustainability.
• Understanding of the Emission Reduction Fund and approved carbon farming methods, including technical understanding of carbon accounting models.
• Experience in developing vegetation-based carbon sequestration projects and a working understanding of Australian carbon markets.
• Experience in completing Environmental Impact Assessments or similar Due Diligence.
• Understanding of agricultural production systems or natural capital markets in Australia
Additional Preferred Skillsets:
• Sound knowledge of regenerative agricultural practices.
• Experience in carbon farming project management and development.
• Experience using GIS and other available mapping programs
Location:
This position is preferably located in South West Queensland. This would be open to negotiation for the right applicant.
