The Environmental Operations branch is responsible for the preservation, management, and enhancement of council's diverse range of environmental and recreational assets, in partnership with our community, and the rich biodiversity of the region's landscapes. The branch plays an active role within the council, liaising with other units, as well as with the community to maintain and deliver high-quality environmental outcomes.
About the Role: As a Natural Areas Tree Management Officer, you will:
Undertake proactive and reactive risk-based management reports and advice. Coordinate delivery of works through contractors and internal work teams to ensure service levels are maintained. Protect and enhance tree habitat values through innovative habitat creation and offsets. Undertake a range of projects to deliver the required outcomes within the reserve network. About You: You will undertake periodic proactive tree risk assessments to minimize risk to users of recreation trails and public open space within Council's Environmental Reserves network as well as neighboring properties.
You will investigate and report on customer tree maintenance requests, including requests for pruning and removal of trees, and retention of habitat trees in line with current Tree Management Guidelines.
You will coordinate the administration and supervision of tree maintenance operations undertaken by contractors to ensure compliance with agreed service standards, while providing high-level customer service outcomes across the following service delivery areas:
Tree Maintenance Habitat Retention and Creation through innovative techniques Contract Management and Administration of Maintenance Works Asset Assessment and Condition Reporting Performance Auditing, Monitoring and Reporting Restoration Minimum Requirements: As a requirement of this role, you will possess:
A Certificate IV in Arboriculture or an appropriate discipline or equivalent competency gained through structured training and/or experience heavily weighted towards arboriculture. Current certifications in chainsaw operations. Demonstrated experience in undertaking tree maintenance works in a local government setting. A current "C" Class drivers license. You will have proficiency in the preparation of professional business correspondence, reports, documents, and other communication with a demonstrated ability to operate effectively with relevant business technologies including mobile devices, Microsoft Office Suite, and other online or electronic systems, applications, and corporate reporting programs.
