About the Role:
The Native Vegetation Officer is responsible for contributing tothe administration of the Native Vegetation Act (SA) 1991 and the Native Vegetation Regulations (SA) 2017 byproviding scientific and technical advice regarding the protection,management and conservation of native vegetation in SouthAustralia. This includes coordinating managing and assessingexisting applications to clear areas of native vegetation pursuantto the Native Vegetation Act (SA) 1991 and Regulations andfacilitating the protection of remnant native vegetation on privateand public lands, in particular the processing of existing HeritageAgreement applications. The Native Vegetation Officer may alsoundertake compliance functions under the Native Vegetation Act(SA) 1991 such as on ground assessments.
The position is also responsible for:
Providing scientific and technical advice to planningauthorities, industry, community groups and landholdersrelating to the inclusion of land in the Heritage Agreementsystem. Providing scientific technical advice to government andnon-government stake holders regarding the interpretation andapplication of the Native Vegetation Act (SA) 1991 andthe Native Vegetation Regulations (SA) 2017 . Assisting in the delivery of compliance activities underthe Native Vegetation Act (SA) 1991 . Supporting the Native Vegetation Council and itscommittees, and other Departmental groups to assess andevaluate native vegetation off set areas and compliance withthe Native Vegetation Act (SA) 1991 andregulations.

Essential Qualifications:
Degree inenvironmental science, natural resources management orequivalent.
Special Conditions:
Some overnight absences may be required. Some intra and interstate travel may be required. May be required to participate in fire management andassociated duties. Remuneration:
PO2, $86,950 min - $96,233 max p.a.
