About The Role The Native Title Specialist works within a team reporting to the Native Title Manager.
The role supports the business by building and nurturing strong relationships with the business' native title stakeholders, developing and implementing strategies to facilitate negotiation of new agreements and grants of tenure that underpin the business' delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities Ensure other engagements and consultations with native title stakeholders are undertaken in accordance with applicable native title agreements, agreed engagement strategies, and approval requirement schedules.
Coordinating and undertaking the relevant Native Title Act future act processes for the grant of tenure, including DEMIRS dealings, managing NNTT expedited procedure objections,  and undertaking draft heritage agreement reviews.
Assisting to develop and implement strategies for securing native title agreements and building relationships with native title stakeholders.
Implementing systems and processes to effectively track, achieve and manage negotiations, commitments and initiatives.
Monitoring compliance with agreement, regulatory and legislative obligations, including the preparation and distribution of compliance reports in accordance with business requirements.
Provide detailed and strategic advice to the business on native title matters.
Develop and implement strategies for securing native title agreements and building relationships with native title stakeholders.
The following qualifications and attributes will be well regarded: Significant experience in a similar role with a resources company operating within the Pilbara.
A tertiary level qualification in law or related discipline of demonstrated relevance to the role.
Understanding of the key international and industry Indigenous engagement standards as they apply to agreement-making.
Proven positive outcomes in working with Aboriginal people, Pilbara native title groups and their representatives.
Ability to co-ordinate and participate in meetings with native title stakeholder groups.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced and complex environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).
Proven capability in native title and heritage agreement negotiation and implementation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent time management and priority setting skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
