We are currently looking for a Physical Performance Coach to join the team at the National Tennis Academy (Brisbane) on a permanent, full-time basis.
About the role
Reporting to the National Physical Performance Manager, the NTA Physical Performance Coach will be responsible for directing the overall physical development of relevant Tennis Australia (Pro, Development Squad and predominantly assigned players to the National Tennis Academy). This role will be responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring of individualised strength and conditioning (S&C) programs for Tennis Australia players, as well as the coordination of relevant ancillary sport science support. Effective communication with all key stakeholders involved in delivering programs to players is an essential requirement of this position.
In this role you will:
Develop and implement evidence-based strength and conditioning programs for all National Tennis Academy selected players consistent with their development needs.
Implement comprehensive, evidence-based, individualised physical profiling strategies to identify key physical/athletic developmental priorities.
Develop targeted and individualised strength and conditioning programs for all Tennis Australia non-NTA selected players.
Support Tennis Australia athlete development system integration and advancement in the Tennis Australia Strategy & Performance environment.
Support and/or coordinate relevant internal and external stakeholders in TA and Player Development.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated the ability to elicit improvements in the strength and conditioning variables of individual athletes and groups of athletes, as well as to understand the athletes' and coaches' attitudes to physical training, therapy and recovery methods. You will have technical strength and conditioning knowledge across sport, preferably tennis, particularly in fundamental long term athlete development principles, periodization/planning, training techniques, coaching trends, and recovery methods.
What you will bring to the role:
Demonstrated practical strength and conditioning experience in high performance sport – a minimum of 5 years coaching experience at an elite or professional level.
Experience working with tennis players (desirable).
Knowledge of tennis science and medicine, rules and the sport's anti-doping code.
Must maintain industry governing body (ASCA and/or ESSA) accreditation yearly.
Level 2 Strength & Conditioning Coaching (ASCA) or Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) Accreditation or ability to acquire within 6 months (essential).
Tertiary qualifications in Sport Science, Human Movement and/or equivalent degree (essential).
You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
