Watco Australia is a dynamic and growth-focused organisation which operates rail services on the West and East coasts of Australia, providing container and bulk transportation solutions for customers in the grain, agriculture, livestock, rail infrastructure, minerals and steel manufacturing industries.About the RoleWe are seeking a National Safety Manager to join our team. This role is based in Brisbane and reports to our VP Operations.As our National Safety Manager, you'll lead the Safety team and oversee Watco's Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. You'll work closely with the frontline leadership team and drivers to maintain a safe working environment while coaching leaders on regulations and leading safety programs.You will need the ability to:Lead the delivery of safety programs, including risk management and investigations.Undertake incident investigations as required.Monitor and lead the Safety team to ensure timely submission of reports as required by regulatory bodies (ONRSR).Assist with safety performance and other relevant data for tender submissions.Work with the team to ensure Workers Compensation and Injury Management is monitored and coordinated as required.Ensure that all Watco procedures are compliant by actively keeping up to date with changes in legislation and industry standards to provide the highest level of safety and operational efficiency.Lead the corporate Alcohol & Other Drug Program (AOD) and assist with coordination of any required AOD testing programs, including random testing processes.Manage risk assessment processes, Safety Committee meetings, and Toolbox requirements.Manage and lead any third-party audit requirements to ensure successful outcomes and reporting to Senior Management as required.What You Will BringMinimum of Cert IV WHS or equivalent relevant qualification or demonstrable industry experience.8+ years' experience in an operational rail environment or similar highly regulated industry.Comprehensive safety knowledge and experience with safety/risk management legislation and systems.Understanding of railway operations and Rail Safety National Law implementation.Lead Auditor Qualifications and experience in leading safety investigations.Ability to lead a Safety team.Ability to effectively communicate safety rules and regulations to co-workers, supervisors, managers and others.Ability to incentivise and train personnel to perform job safety related duties, and to provide training related to WHS and company regulations, rules, and safety guidelines.Sound understanding of Workers Compensation and Injury Management.Ability to analyse and present safety data and statistics to Senior Management.Flexibility to travel to our other sites across Australia when required, including WA, NSW, regional QLD and other states and territories as applicable.What We Can OfferNewly refurbished office location in Brisbane CBD.Career development and growth opportunities.Novated leasing.Employee Assistance Program for employees and family members.Corporate uniform provided.Be a part of a close-knit and supportive team.Our team are recognised, acknowledged, and rewarded for the amazing work they do.
