Primary DetailsPermanent, full-time role Hybrid Location Preference is Sydney or Melbourne, also open Nationally. The Opportunity We have a great opportunity to join the Chief Underwriting Office as National Manager – Portfolio Underwriting Support. As National Manager you are responsible for leading a team of National Portfolio Specialists to deliver product and underwriting technical support to the National Portfolio Management team for both personal lines and commercial products. You will also support the GM Underwriting on cross product underwriting portfolio projects.
How will I help? Develop, deliver, and drive effective planning of the Portfolio Underwriting Support function to ensure delivery of services underpinning business plans
Lead, manage, coach and mentor a team of National Portfolio Specialists to ensure effective resource allocation, optimal performance, capability development, employee engagement and retention
Supervise the governance of the Product Committee function for relevant products as per instructions from the Product Chair
Oversee and coach team on underwriting and portfolio management activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
Coordinate the maintenance of underwriting rules including risk management and risk acceptance criteria
Demonstrate understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycle to drive and enhance business performance
Assist the GM Underwriting coordinate and manage team wide projects, business, and technical activities
About You To be successful in this role you will have a solid working knowledge of Underwriting Operations, with extensive experience in a Leadership role. You will also have:
Solid leadership experience and engagement skills
Advanced planning, organisational and project management skills
Proven experience of managing teams.
Experience managing a National Underwriting portfolio
Broad working knowledge of risk management, regulatory environment, portfolio management, insurance principles and underwriting
Strong commercial acumen with experience in senior stakeholder management
Experiences with strategy and operations would be beneficial
