Position OverviewAviagen is looking for a full-time National Health & Safety Business Partner based in Goulburn, NSW.
Partnering with the Senior Leadership Team and reporting to the HR Manager, you will work closely with the business to embed a culture of care, compliance, and continuous improvement in Health & Safety.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring compliance with Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and industry standardsReviewing and improving existing safety systems to ensure compliance with legislation and proposing enhancements to foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and appreciation for the benefits of improved health and safety practicesDelivering leadership programs to promote strong safety practices across all levelsAnalysing data to identify risks and opportunities for operational improvementSupporting injury prevention, management, and workplace assessments alongside the Occupational Health NurseConducting audits, investigations, and emergency preparedness drillsDriving cultural change and fostering proactive safety leadershipAbility to travel quarterly to New Zealand or as requiredWhat We Need From YouTo qualify, you will need a tertiary qualification in Health and Safety and a minimum of 3 years experience in a health and safety role, ideally within a multi-site or distributed environment. Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, and compliance frameworks is essential, along with demonstrated experience in:
Conducting workplace safety audits, investigations, and risk assessmentsWriting health and safety training material and mentoring teams to build safety capability and cultureLeading cultural change initiatives to improve safety practices across an organisationIncident investigation and management, including methodologies like ICAMPreparing and presenting proposals for safety-related improvements to senior leadershipAdditionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Designing and delivering engaging safety training and workshopsA proactive approach to compliance and risk mitigation strategiesStrong data analysis skills to drive evidence-based decision-makingChange management experience in building accountability and improving safety cultureFamiliarity with the poultry or agricultural industry (not essential but advantageous)As our ideal candidate, you will possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative and hands-on approach, and the ability to influence and engage at all levels. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively will also set you up for success.
