Primary objective:
Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the National Firearms Register (NFR) Project and Northern Territory Police. This role entails the precise processing of Northern Territory firearms data to ensure alignment with the National Firearms Identification Database (NFID). The position requires adherence to relevant legislation, security protocols, and record management standards.
Context statement:
As a Data Remediation Officer working with NT Firearms data and the National Firearms Identification Database (NFID), you will operate in a fast-paced environment. Your role is critical in reviewing and verifying data to ensure the accurate processing and alignment of firearms information. This position demands meticulous attention to detail and adherence to deadlines. Familiarity with the relevant legislation, including the NT Firearms Act 1997, is advantageous for ensuring compliance and accuracy in data management.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Provide specialist operational support to the NFR Project Team, including collaboration with the Firearms Policy and Recording Unit.
Process customer requests within required timeframes and relevant service delivery and security standards.
Assign and track escalated Data Remediation related issues as required.
Collation, analysis and preparation of reports on Firearms Data Remediation processing, as per standard operating procedures.
Undertake data quality assurance and investigations, present findings and provide recommendations to inform business improvement.
Undertake assigned duties as directed by the Team Leader NFR Data Remediation.
Follow defined service quality standards, standard operating procedures, work health and safety policies and procedures.
Selection criteria:
Essential:
Sound knowledge in computer systems, records management and major business systems, or the ability to obtain quickly.
High degree of accuracy and strong analytical skills and attention to detail when interpreting and inputting data.
Prior experience operating in a fast-paced environment with strong organisational and time management skills; with demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, work independently with minimal supervision and work under pressure.
Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving skills, sound organisational skills, flexibility in thinking and cross-cultural awareness.
Desirable:
Proficiency (or the ability to become proficient) in the use of NT Police Information systems; SerPro, SaFER, MDEA.
Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with firearms.
Qualifications in an Administrative, Intelligence or Information Technology field.
Knowledge and understanding of or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge and understanding of the issues, trends and complexities related to the NT Firearms Act 1997 and the National Firearms Register.
