Carter Holt Harvey (CHH) is looking for an experienced health and safety leader to join our team.
This is a multifaceted and vital role within our business.
Reporting to the Group Operations Manager, you will be working alongside our site managers, site EHSR advisors and coordinators, lead teams, frontline leaders and production staff.
You will also work closely with the national environmental manager and the national compliance manager.The role:To lead the creation and delivery of a safe working strategy consistent with our standards, guiding principles and complying with applicable NZ legislationTo be the source of expert knowledge to drive ongoing improvement in the EHSR spaceWork with the business to drive change and deliver sustained improvementFacilitate the effective delivery and documentation of all site EHSR measures and compliance including auditsTo ensure clear, appropriate and timely high level EHSR communications across all levels of the businessProvide mentoring and coaching in the EHSR disciplinesDeliver progress updates and reports to senior managementDevelop a genuinely positive and energetic safe behaviour culture nationwideThis is not a step-up role as you will be required to lead the EHSR strategy to support the business.
The role can be located at one of our Kawerau or Tokoroa sites or in our Auckland office, however regular overnight travel to our sites will be required, and a fully maintained company vehicle is included.
Relocation assistance will be available to the right person.About you:Relevant qualification in the EHSR fieldsMinimum 3-4 years working in EHSR, operating at a similar levelPrevious experience in a large heavy industrial manufacturing environment is preferred along with exposure to a multisite operationPrior experience in wood processing industry is an advantage but not essentialSound EHSR legislation knowledgeTrack record of proactive strategic thinkingCommercial awarenessProficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, reporting tools, ERP systems and risk management database managementStrong proven analytical, communication, influencing and negotiation skillsStrong people management skills, including influencing and coaching skillsMechanical understanding along with guarding knowledge to AS 4024 StandardsTraining and facilitation skills an advantageIn return, we can offer:Competitive salary and vehicle, plus relocation assistance if requiredCorporate medical care plan through Southern CrossCompany superannuation including discounted life insurance and income protection with CHH contributionsRetail benefits through employee scheme Boost RewardsStaff buying privileges at CartersFree onsite staff car parkingAbout Us:CHH has been in operation for over 150 years manufacturing a full range of wood-based building products from our four mills in NZ.
