CBR Recruitment is delighted to be working with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) to recruit a Senior Policy Manager, Communicable Diseases. NACCHO is the national peak body representing 146 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and the lead advisor to the Commonwealth Government on primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally.
Position Overview: The Assistant Director, Communicable Diseases role oversees a small team to lead the development of processes and procedures while supporting the delivery of policy advice, programs, and grant applications. They will focus on NACCHO's existing program working with menstrual hygiene product distribution in remote communities. This role will be suited to someone with a high level of initiative and a strong work ethic, with a strong interest in furthering health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
Key Responsibilities: Establishing new programs including co-design and consultation with key stakeholders Managing strategic policy and/or programs to support and strengthen the work of ACCHOs in delivering holistic health approaches including contract management. Leading a small team. Representation and advocacy relating to health service delivery, health information, research, public health and health programs. Promoting, developing, and expanding the provision of health and wellbeing services through local ACCHOs. Liaising with organisations and governments within both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community on health and wellbeing policy and program issues. Working with member services and affiliates. Coordinating and/or representing and advocating for NACCHO across a range of Government and non-Government settings. Driving the communication and advocacy of NACCHO programs, policies and strategic direction at a system level. Drive and implement reporting, evaluation and compliance requirements for programs. The skills and experience we are seeking: A strong background in public, social and/or health policy or programs. Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement. Ability to think strategically and analytically. Ability to deliver program and/or policy initiatives to the required standards and timeframes. Outstanding writing skills including the ability to present complex and technical information in a simple and clear manner, and tailor written material to different audiences. Strong verbal communication skills and a high attention to detail. Excellent stakeholder management skills across a range of settings and an ability to collaborate and influence at senior levels. A results-driven approach to work. Flexible and resilient. Tertiary qualifications in relative field, or relevant work experience deemed equivalent. Demonstrated experience leading policy and/or programs work is essential.
