Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities and Functions Carry out road maintenance / construction duties as required.Maintenance of parks and gardens, recreation reserves, town streetscapes and roadsides.Public convenience maintenance and cleaning e.g.
toilets, barbeques.Operate garbage compactor.Repairs to footpath and kerb & channel, including removal and replacement of small lots.Cleaning and repairs to urban and rural drainage system, including pits.Other roadway/street maintenance and/or cleaning as required.Participate in Councils after hours' call out phone and standby system.The maintenance of strict confidentiality in any matter, which may affect Council's ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and/or contractors.Other duties as may be directed from time to time.Plant and Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operation of assigned Plant and Equipment relevant to the task and skill level.Ensure that daily routine maintenance on assigned plant and equipment is carried out; record and report any faults.Ensure that all assigned plant and equipment is returned to a depot, or otherwise securely stored at end of shift.Undertake minor repairs to assigned plant and equipment.Report daily, any observed damage to Council assets.Occupational Health & Safety Ensure all works are carried out within relevant OH&S guidelines.Participate in knowledge/ skills developmental training, or OH&S training as directed.Installation of warning signs, safety lights and barricades at work sites.Accurately record daily work activities for reporting to Team Leader/Leading Hand.Erection and maintenance of traffic control devices, street signs and guideposts etc.To discuss this position please contact Stuart Hall, Coordinator Parks on: ****** or 0358 719 222 Minimum Requirements Experience in parks and gardens maintenanceAbility to perform various tasks involving heavy lifting, climbing into high cabins of plant, climbing to secure loads, etc.Construction Induction CardFirst AidDesirable qualifications and experience Trade qualification in Horticulture/Landscaping or related field.CPR CertificateTraffic ControllerChemical HandlersSpotters TicketChainsaw, Polesaw & Tree FellingLoad & Unload Goods/CargoBackhoe loader
