Multiple Positions: Project Superintendent, Project Manager, Draftsperson PlanPac is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm operating in Papua New Guinea, Australia & Fiji. Our offices are in Port Moresby, Townsville and Suva, and we intend to broaden our operations further to service the Solomon Islands.
The PlanPac team is diverse in skills, delivering building design, town planning, project management, and contract management to our clients with a comprehensive end-to-end approach focusing on quality inclusive building & infrastructure developments.
Due to the growth of our business, we have multiple positions available to join our team across our operations in Townsville, Port Moresby, and Suva.
Project Superintendents | Project Managers (TSV) We are looking for experienced Project Superintendents and Project Managers to join our team in the Townsville office. You will oversee multiple projects and will have ultimate responsibility for all stages of project delivery to completion, management, planning, programming, budgets, and cost control of the projects. You will be the main contact for clients and provide a high level of communication to all parties. You will lead project teams, assigning tasks and responsibilities, providing guidance and support, communicating project status, updates, and changes to GM and team members regularly, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key skills and experience Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to inspire and develop a team. Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs within PlanPac. Oversee project scope, budgets, timelines, risk management, and mitigation through planning, design, and construction delivery using proven best practice methods and systems. Ensure safety and quality standards are met. Manage procurement activities, including drafting tender specifications, tender evaluations, and approval submissions. Ensure projects are delivered within budget, monitor costs, and assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial reports. Contract/commercial management of project budgets and procurement with appropriate cost controls, critical and contractual time frames. Implement and review technical and operational standards, conduct post-project reviews, and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental policies. Provide regular updates to stakeholders. Strong organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks. Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, including Word and Excel. Engineering or trade qualifications and/or project management experience (preferred). Diploma in Project Management (preferred). Construction industry white card. Motivation to achieve value-for-money results. BID | Tender Submissions Officer (TSV) We are looking for a BID | Tender Submissions Officer to join our team in the Townsville office. The position will be responsible for identifying and responding to tenders and proposals, managing bid delivery, contract awarding, supporting the implementation | transition of new services, ensuring legal, commercial and compliance checks are in place, accurately recording monthly bid volumes, working with all internal counterparts to create compelling and memorable bid documents, which include a clear value proposition and effective win strategies, and supporting the Managing Director to identify and introduce new business opportunities to drive growth and enhance PlanPac market position and reputation.
Key skills and experience Tertiary qualification degree in Business, Commerce, Supply | Procurement or related discipline. Demonstrated ability to achieve results working autonomously, as well as in cross-functional teams, and across multiple levels of the business. High attention to detail, particularly in relation to project coordination. Highly organised in project management, planning, and scheduling. Proven ability to quickly understand the tender documentation and requirements. Advanced MS Office skills, particularly MS Word. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs within PlanPac. Ability to work efficiently to meet rigid deadline submissions. Design Manager Due to an increase in project demands, we are seeking an experienced Design Manager for our operation in Papua New Guinea. You will be responsible for leading and managing the development and delivery of all architectural design aspects to ensure that all designs meet the regulatory requirements and are efficient and cost-effective for the construction of the project.
Key skills and experience Bachelor's degree in architecture or a related field (preferred). Registered Architect (preferred). 5 years plus of experience in architectural design, with a portfolio. Strong proficiency in ArchiCAD and other 3D modelling software. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong team building skills with an ability to mentor and train ambitious designers. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Draftsperson | Building Designer (TSV) We are looking for an experienced Draftsperson | Building Designer in ArchiCAD to join our team in Townsville. You'll have the ability to work across all stages of the design process and ensure projects are executed to the highest standards, adhering to strict timelines.
The key responsibilities for this role will include but are not limited to: Proficiency in ArchiCAD, with an understanding and application of relevant building codes to produce quality design and documentation. Assist in preparing design documents for planning and building applications. Assist in preparing detailed design documents for tendering and construction purposes. Assist in coordinating and liaising with consultant teams and contractors on a variety of projects at varying stages. Adjusting designs and plans to meet the client's needs. Keep abreast of the latest developments and technologies in design. Senior Estimator We are looking for a Senior Estimator for our operations in Papua New Guinea. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for accurate bid preparation, presentation, and follow-up of tenders.
The key responsibilities for this role will include but are not limited to: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive relationships. Prepare and develop accurate cost estimates, including cost analysis. Preparation and development of construction practices, programs, and submission documentation. Deliver detailed tenders, provide support for pre-contracts and delivery. Develop estimates using site productivity rates. Construction of tender plans. Identify the need for additional information or clarification through RFIs to ensure complete tender documentation. Review designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness. Review and validate subcontractor pricing across all service disciplines. To succeed in this role, you will have: Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction, or a building-related qualification or trade with additional experience to equate to degree. 5 years' experience in a similar role in the construction industry. Construction Safety Induction (white) card. Excellent eye for detail, including the ability to read construction drawings to enable accurate pricing. Well-developed ability to present and participate with confidence in internal and external meetings. Solid knowledge of tendering, building standards, estimating procedures, and the competitive market. A thorough understanding of the building process as well as a proven ability to identify and evaluate construction risk. As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate strong leadership capability, proven relationship building and people management skills, complemented with well-developed communication, interpersonal and influencing abilities.
