Permanent full-time position A Supportive team workplace with great flexibility and a focus on wellbeing 9-Day Fortnight RDO for Outdoor Staff Banyule Council have an exciting opportunity for motivated and highly skilled Multi-Skilled Operator to join the Operations Infrastructure Team at Operation Depot, Bellfield.
The Operations Department is responsible for providing a range of services to Council, including the collection of waste and recyclable materials from within the municipality, waste management policy and waste education, the operation of the Banyule Waste Recovery Centre, mechanical sweeping of roads and footpaths, inspection, cleaning and maintenance of pits and drains, clearance of litter bins from shopping centres, cleaning of Council's toilet blocks and barbeques, the management of Council's plant and Fleet and maintenance of Council infrastructure that includes roads, footpaths, shared trails, signs and street furniture.
About the role: This role assists with and participates in all Infrastructure Maintenance activities of the Operations Infrastructure Unit's functions.
The position is required to undertake a variety of tasks efficiently and to a standard that ensures public safety and protects the natural environment.
These full-time roles are from 7:00 am to 3.56 pm, Monday to Friday, with a 9-day fortnight.
Skills, experience and certificates: Specialist Expertise Experience and Knowledge in using Drain/NDD Truck.
Experience in Road Infrastructure, Drainage and Cleaning of Drainage maintenance activities.
Competency ticket MSMSS00019 Operate a Drain Cleaning System.
Operational Competency Safe and competent operation of vehicles and plant.
Licence to operate a front-end end loader/backhoe.
Knowledge in asphalt and concrete repairs.
Understanding and experience with safely and competently operating mechanical sweepers.
License to conduct traffic control requirements as to the placement of warning signs, barriers and lights.
License to conduct the safety requirements associated with working in confined spaces.
Experience in the use of light hydraulic cranes.
Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills The ability to work in a team environment, take direction and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work autonomously.
Demonstrated experience working in a multi-task environment.
Customer Service and Communication The ability to effectively communicate with other staff as well as direct customer service to residents and the public.
Familiarity with accurately recording information.
Problem-Solving The ability to break down problems, assess options and resolve minor issues at a local level.
Mandatory Pre-employment screenings: Licence to operate forklift (desirable).
Licence to drive heavy rigid vehicle.
