The Opportunity The Boeing MQ28 is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.
We are seeking an experienced Senior RF/E3 Engineer based in Brisbane to support this challenging opportunity. The role is predominantly an electrophysics discipline and requires a solid theoretical and working understanding of the domain. The successful candidate will work in Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team which is responsible for providing the technical oversight and leadership for the development of the MQ-28. Expectations of the successful candidate are:
Collaborate with the existing E3 team, wider internal program stakeholders, and Commonwealth members of the program;Provide advice to program technical authorities and product teams;Be tasked to a wide range of RF/E3 design, analysis and test activities;Plan and lead some or all of the RF/E3 scope; andWork with limited technical supervision.While the core job and majority time will be based at our Brisbane headquarters, some domestic travel will be required to attend to various E3/RF activities that occur across several sites under the program.
Responsibilities As a Senior Electromagnetic Effects Systems Design Engineer with MQ-28, you will:
Coordinate, test, and verify EMI/EMC requirementsDevelop and maintain the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Control Plan (E3CP), test procedures, and test reportsDevelop system level E3 testing philosophies, plans, procedures and manage test eventsPerform EMI/EMC analysis and implement mitigation mechanisms to assure compatibility and safety of new and existing systems and interfacesReview supplier data and design drawings to verify and correct system design to EMI/EMC standardsLead EMI/EMC testing of hardware and software systems in both lab and on-aircraft environments to verify adherence to Boeing and/or Military requirementsPerform HIRF, lightning, RF co-site, antenna coupling analysis and testingPerform RADHAZ analysis and testingCoordinate TEMPEST requirements, analysis and support to customer agenciesContribute to the open, inclusive, and innovative team cultureDevelop and maintain capability roadmaps for E3 in future generations.To be considered for the role (Required Skills/Experience) you will have: Essential: Tertiary degree qualification in electrical engineering or related technical disciplineMinimum 7 years relevant experience in the E3 or RF discipline, applying relevant standards, regulations and engineering practices in the systems engineering life cycleExperience with design, analysis and testing for MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464, and understanding the difference between these two important standards and how they are applied in practiceExperience with design, analysis and testing of RF systems, datalinks, antenna systems, communications link analysis, co-site analysis and related testingExperience with EMI and RF testing and troubleshooting, including the use of modern VNAs, RTSAs, and TDRsDesirable: Experience with military and/or EMC laboratory test procedures and protocols for establishing test configurations, monitoring testing and reportingExperience with RF (non-ionising) radiation assessments in accordance with ARPANSA, both computational and measurement, and more broadly assessing RF hazards to persons (HERP), fuel (HERF) and ordnance (HERO)Experience with design, analysis and testing of aircraft systems, avionics and ground systemsExperience with DO-160 Sections 20-23RPEQ or equivalent Chartered StatusA current Australian Government security clearanceApplicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.
