MOTOR MECHANIC (Full Time)
Duties and responsibilities Our client is looking for the following skill sets: Repairs and overhauls automobiles and other automotive vehicles: Examines vehicle and discusses with customers the nature and extent of damage or malfunction.Listen to engines, fit and operate special test equipment and test-drive vehicles.Plans work procedure, using charts, technical manuals, and experience.Raises vehicle, using hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.
Perform scheduled maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups to achieve results.Removes unit, such as engine, transmission, or differential, using wrenches and hoist.Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and thickness gauges.Repairs or replaces parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings, using mechanic's hand tools.Detect faults in engines/parts and repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials or steering gear; dismantling them and checking parts, referring to manuals as necessary.Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, using various instruments to make sure they are working properly and putting them back into the vehicle.Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.Tune engines using special electronic equipment and make fine adjustments (to carburetors, for example) for smoother running.Rebuilds parts, such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks, using lathes, shapers, drill presses, and welding equipment.Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.May need to use oxy, electric, TIG and MIG welders.
Extra training will be provided.Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories, such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition and electronic fuel injection.Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or list the work required before a certificate can be issued. Experience essential: Minimum 2-3 years full time or equivalentEducation: Minimum Certificate IIIRemuneration: $70,000 - $85,000 + Superannuation Job Expiry: 2 December 2024
