(1.0 FTE), Grade 3 / 4 based on qualifications and experienceProbation : 3-month probationary periodSchool Overview :Southern Montessori School is an independent, non-denominational school offering education from Early Learning Centre (ELC) to Year 9.
We follow the Montessori philosophy, focusing on child-centered learning, academic rigor, and the development of independence, initiative, and self-discipline.Core Responsibilities :The Finance Officer will support the Business Manager in daily financial operations, including accounts payable / receivable, payroll functions, and workplace health & safety.
The role also involves assisting with financial planning and the maintenance of the Centre's buildings and grounds.Essential Qualifications :Responding to Risks of Harm and Neglect TrainingMandatory Notification TrainingFirst Aid QualificationProtective Practices TrainingPrior school experience (preferred)Experience with FACTS (formerly PCSchool) is advantageousBusiness / Accounting qualifications (preferred but not essential)Skills & Characteristics :Strong communication, organizational, and time management skillsHigh degree of confidentiality and diplomacy in dealing with the school communityAbility to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks effectivelyExperience / Training :Proficiency in computerised accounting software (FACTS experience required)Previous experience in non-government school financial administrationCommitment to ongoing professional developmentProfessional Responsibilities :Uphold the school's values, mission, and policiesMaintain confidentiality of all school-related informationParticipate in professional development opportunitiesPosition Duties :Financial Management : Oversee receipts, payments, debtors, creditors, and general financial operationsPersonnel Management : Assist with payroll servicesOccupational Health & Safety : Ensure a safe and compliant workplaceApplication Process :Submit a PDF application with your CV and a one-page cover letter addressed to the Principal, Heather McInerney.
