Term: Permanent part-time (Term-time plus 2 weeks, 42 weeks per annum)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm, 38 hours per week.
Start date: Tuesday, 28 January 2025, plus pupil-free days, Wednesday, 22 and Thursday, 23 January.

Position Summary
BMS is seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Administration Officer for a permanent position. We're seeking someone who is not only highly skilled but also brings a positive and engaging personality to the team. A flexible approach and a genuine willingness to embrace and support the Montessori philosophy are essential.
The Administration Officer will deliver friendly and highly efficient customer service and create a positive, warm and welcoming atmosphere for our School Community. The role holder is primarily responsible for providing dedicated customer support services to parents, staff and students of the School. As the first point of contact for the school, the role holder must exercise discretion and confidentiality when dealing with visitors and callers and always operate with a high degree of professionalism. The position is responsible for managing a busy main administration area, student attendance, record management, coordination of the School Health room and first aid processes.
Previous experience working in a similar role, specifically with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Forms) and Adobe Acrobat, would be viewed favourably. Applicants must be prepared to model and maintain the School's Montessori ethos, values, and beliefs. It is imperative that candidates are professional in their approach and have the highest ethical standards, including the ability to manage confidential information. A friendly and approachable demeanour will be crucial in this position, as will excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills.
About the Role
Brisbane Montessori School offers a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Administration Officer to join the school. This part-time position is responsible for performing a range of administrative duties while presenting a professional, personable, and knowledgeable representation to the staff, parents, students, and the wider school community.
Responsibilities:
Contribution to positive, professional, and collaborative work practices for the Administration team at Brisbane Montessori School. Operate the College switchboard, answer and direct incoming calls, respond to voice messages, manage the automated message system and maintain an accurate list of internal extensions. Providing efficient administrative services, including welcoming and responding to enquiries from families, students, visitors, contractors, and external providers. Manage the School Health Room and provide first aid assistance to students and staff. Coordinate the Student Medication process and ensure compliance with the BMS Student Medication procedure. Maintain student attendance records daily in accordance with the BMS Student Attendance Procedure. Attend to duties as prescribed for this position in the College Emergency Procedures. Ability to work in a child-related environment, enabling an effective response to a wide range of stakeholders. Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with people at all levels. Highly developed written communication skills with attention to detail. Ability to prioritise, organise, and complete work within established deadlines. Sound knowledge of administrative systems and procedures and proficiency with office technology, particularly the Office 365 suite. First Aid & CPR certificate or willingness to obtain. Undertake employment screening for child-related employment and maintain a positive Blue Card. Appointment and Classification
The appointment is permanent part-time, 38 hours per week (term-time + 2 weeks, 42 weeks per annum), 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Level 3 school officer with pay and general employment conditions in accordance with the Brisbane Montessori School Limited Enterprise Agreement (2021).
