Professional 3 (Remuneration Package Range $126,958 - $141,986) Biosecurity and Animal Welfare, Berrimah Veterinary Laboratory Darwin Fixed full time vacancy available to 30/06/2025 The Molecular Project Scientist will perform high throughput sequencing (HTS) postdoctoral research and develop a HTS collaborative network in partnership with several bodies including The Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (Geelong).
This project is part of the first phase of an innovative project aimed at developing HTS capability to enhance animal biosecurity in Northern Australia, the frontline for many high-risk terrestrial and aquatic animal diseases.
The project is based at a facility in the Berrimah Farm Science Precinct with the Molecular Project Scientist reporting to the Director of the Berrimah Veterinary Laboratory.
The main role of the Molecular Project Scientist is to complete all current projects comprising of sequencing and bioinformatics, finalise project documents and apply for repeat funding. The Molecular Project Scientist will be assisted by two scientific officers.
