MMG Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania's largest and oldest continuously operating underground mines producing zinc, copper, and lead concentrates, as well as gold ore.
Rosebery offers exceptional outdoor experiences with fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, rock climbing, and walking at your doorstep. The MMG office in Burnie gives employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Mine Geologist We are currently seeking a Mine Geologist to provide day-to-day underground mine geological services to the mining operation, including structural control, mapping, and direction of underground development headings; planning of underground drilling activities; stope notes; reconciliation of producing stopes; and collation of data in preparation for resource estimation. This role will report to a senior geologist and is offered on a flexible 8/6 roster as a residential role or DIDO from within Tasmania.
Competencies, qualifications and skills: Committed to workplace safety with expertise in fostering safety cultures; holds tertiary qualifications in Geology and an Australian manual class driver's licence. Proficient in underground mapping, sampling methods, geological interpretation, and basic drilling techniques, with demonstrated underground geology experience. Capable of managing core processing and directing field technicians; strong technical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain positive relationships across all operational levels; skilled in MS Office and knowledgeable in 3D mining software and database systems. Key responsibilities will include: Design and supervision of underground diamond drilling activities Core logging and processing and underground inspections Validation of geological data Mapping and interpretation for inclusion in geological models Developing and updating panel and stope notes Daily maintenance of grade control data management and reporting Assist in regular geological reports in material movement reconciliations What we offer: A safety-first culture An attractive remuneration including an incentive scheme, accommodation, and allowances.
