Your Opportunity The Strong Families, Safe Kids, Advice and Referral Line (SFSKARL) is a crucial contact point for individuals seeking information, advice, and support regarding safety and/or wellbeing concerns for children and young people.
This service offers expert guidance on service options and strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of children and families.
When intervention is required, SFSKARL ensures that families receive the necessary support, whether through direct referral to appropriate services or, in cases where a child is deemed at risk, by referring the matter to the Child Safety Service for further assessment.
The Advice and Referral Line Community Liaison Officer plays a key role in bridging the gap between SFSKARL and the wider service sector, promoting community education and ensuring timely, effective intervention.
This role is based out of the Mission Australia Devonport office and will see you working with a high degree of autonomy as the Liaison Officer takes responsibility for guiding their work direction, with general oversight provided by the People Leader.
The role demands a deep understanding of the latest developments in child safety and wellbeing, ensuring that the incumbent remains at the forefront of policy, training, and clinical practice.
Your Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the SFSK team to provide a positive, strengths-focused approach when a child is deemed at risk.
Support the family and their connections to ensure the child's safety within their own family environment.
Operate within set legislation, delegations, guidelines and time frames.
Build and sustain strong, positive, and effective cooperative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and with other local service providers, to identify information needs and opportunities.
Ensure smooth referrals for necessary interventions and support.
Promote community education regarding the role of SFSKARL and the reporting requirements for people in Tasmania regarding safety and wellbeing concerns for children and young people.
Requirements for Success With a significant background in the child, youth & family Community Services and/or Mental Health sectors, you will be confident in your case management and assessment processes.
Other requirements include:
Ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity by identifying risks, issues, and opportunities.
Working with multiple manager reporting levels.
Comprehensive understanding and application of theory relevant to the development and delivery of child safety and family support services.
Demonstrated well-developed organisational, time management and administrative skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines.
Strong computer literacy skills with the capacity to work with various management data portals to create and maintain accurate client records.
Identify chances to enhance work practices, training, and educational requirements with sector partners to improve outcomes for children and families.

Full driver licence with no restrictions.
