The roleThis position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating planned minor water and sewer alteration (MSA & MWA) works and associated delivery strategies within the Minor Capital Works team.
The works are predominantly customer and stakeholder driven and the Minor Water and Sewer Alterations Team Leader will ensure that assets are constructed in a cost-effective manner whilst ensuring that safety and quality meet South East Water's and customer requirements.
This role requires extensive engagement with key internal stakeholders such as Property and Land Development, Network Operations, Maintenance and Asset Integration teams.
Additionally, success in this role requires working closely and effectively with Minor Capital Works delivery partners and external stakeholders such as SEW customers, developers, and other authorities.
The role delivers on our non-negotiables of project delivery (safety, compliance with MRWA, WSAA, Australian Standards and industry best practice for quality and environmental protection) while also meeting SEW's Business Plan and Corporate Objectives.
Who are you?To be successful in this position, you will have the below skills and experience;
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Project Management or equivalentSignificant relevant water industry work experience (minimum 10 years) in managing projects, construction crews and works may be considered in lieu of relevant tertiary qualificationsExperience and knowledge of all aspects associated with sewer and water network design, construction, operation, and maintenancePossess a thorough understanding of appropriate OH&S Regulations, Australian Standards such as WSAA, MRWA and Codes of Practice etc.Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation, to explain technical details and report to a variety of customers, contractors and stakeholders.Strong commercial acumen used in management of cost estimates and business planning.Excellent relationship building skills both at lower and higher organisational levels.Highly developed capacity to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.Experience and knowledge in managing contractor variation claims and customer complaints and disputes in construction works.Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles for the construction of water, sewerage, and recycled water assetsThe incumbent will be results driven with demonstrated project management experience.Understanding and experience of environmental issues relating to the design and construction of water utility assetsLeads by example in communicating a vision that generates enthusiasm and commitment and guides team to optimise outcomesProficient computer skills and competent in using Microsoft Office suite of programsStrong negotiation skills on matters such as contractor's claims and on-site resolution of customer issuesWhat's in it for you?Working at South East Water means you can enjoy a wealth of benefits, starting with the chance to be part of an organisation deeply committed to environmental initiatives and sustainability; one who has been recognised as one of the top 101 Workplaces for Women in Australia by Work180 for the past two consecutive years.

As part of a team of engineers and technicians, central to this role are responsibilities for 24/7 safe operation to provide support and minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk.
This includes participation in a rostered after-hours duty team, emergency response, and incident support as required.
