Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Ministerial & Parliamentary Liaison Team Member with the Strategy and Performance Office (SPO). 
The Ministerial and Parliamentary Liaison (MPL) team is the central coordination point for the AFP's engagement with the Attorney-General and his office, parliamentary processes and matters of political interest. MPL provides strategic advice and oversight on parliamentary issues and processes and is responsible for developing and implementing briefing material, including Ministerial Submissions, ministerial events and ministerial-level meetings, Senate Estimates, Parliamentary committee inquiries (including submissions, questions on notice and hearing briefs). MPL also manages responding to requests for information from ministerial offices and other Executive Briefings.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. 
What will you do? In the MPL team you will have the opportunity to develop your professional experience across a range of work tasks including stakeholder engagement, learning programs, Parliamentary Document Management System, brief writing and more. 
Under guidance from Team Leaders, Band 6 members in the MPL team will adhere to the work level standards and are expected to:
Communicate effectively by contributing to the development of AFP ministerial submissions, briefs and other correspondence  Build effective professional networks and maintain collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders;  Draft strategic advice to AFP Executive that considers operational drivers and the broader operating environment of the AFP and the government of the day;  Manage ambiguous ad-hoc tasks; Provide training and support on PDMS; Promote better organisational understanding of government processes, the AFP's strategic approach to matters; and  Support organisational change. The MPL Team supports flexible work arrangements, including flexible work hours, working from home and compressed hours.
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application. A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast paced and dynamic environment, leveraging superior prioritisation skills and modelling enthusiasm and resilience in responding to uncertainty and change.  Demonstrated high-level communication and collaboration skills in an environment that has multiple internal and external stakeholders Additional Information This position is an AFP Band Level 6 This role is located in the ACT and applicants are expected to be based in ACT.
