Australian Department of Defence – Canberra ACT This APS 5 Officer is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex ministerial and parliamentary work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. The role will be responsible for the development and preparation of ministerial, parliamentary, media, Freedom of Information, reporting and committee documentation. This will include but not limited to preparing responses to Ministerial and departmental correspondence on personnel matters and preparing submissions for consideration by senior Defence executives and committees. About our Team The DFR Executive team are the primary entry and exit point to DFR for correspondence to Ministers, CPERS, HMP and DGDFR, requests for input to Defence strategic reports and requests for information. The team coordinate the submission of parliamentary briefs, input to Defence reports and ad hoc requests for information. Tasks and responsibilities include the below: Ministerial/Parliamentary Correspondence Submissions and Briefs Cabinet Submissions Executive Correspondence (internal to the Department) Questions On Notice (Qo Ns) Chiefs of Service Committee (Co SC) updates Defence People Committee (DPC) updates Coordinate comments with external stakeholders Management of Candidate Complaints Media Inquiry and reporting Freedom of Information requests Image Scrub requests & Fatal Casualty reporting Subpoenas and Ad Hoc Request for Information (RFIs) Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate is agile and adaptive, possesses highly developed written and communication skills and thrives in a complex environment. You will have well-developed analytical skills and acumen coupled with a very good level of strategic awareness. You will work collaboratively and under direction and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues. You will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. You will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
