The Abra Project Abra Mining Pty Limited (Administrator's Appointed) is seeking a Mining Engineer - Production / Paste / Ventilation for a full-time position with the company based at our Abra Mine.
Abra is located approximately 220km north of Meekatharra, in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The mine represents one of the world's cleanest and largest standalone lead-silver projects capable of producing "Metal in concentrate" of between 90 – 100ktpa lead and 600 – 800kozs silver per year.
The Abra Mineral Resource geologically consists of multiple mineralised zones predominately consisting of an upper over-laying sediment bound Apron zone that sits above an underlying hydrothermal feeder system called the Core zone.
The most recent LOM plan (1.5Mtpa) based on the MRE2023, grade control model updates and ore mined to date contains 16.3Mt @ 6.9% Pb indicating a mine life of 10+ years.
The Abra Mine construction and commissioning was completed in late 2022 and production ramp up took place during 2023, the mine has now reached steady state production volumes.
The underground ore mined is processed through a conventional processing plant, to produce a high-grade lead-silver concentrate that is exported via the Geraldton Port.
The Role This is an exciting time to join Abra as we enter our second year of production. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, as Mining Engineer – Production / Ventilation / Paste, you will be responsible for creating drill & blast plans, ventilation and pastefill plans/designs, conducting ventilation surveys, preparation of ventilation memos/reports, stope evaluations and providing support for development, production, and other mining activities, ensuring the highest technical and safety standards are maintained.
You will provide technical support to the Senior Engineer and Mining Operations to execute and achieve the weekly plan.
In addition, your responsibilities will include: Development of the operational weekly plan to include all the required activities to meet the forecasted targets Preparation of Teleremote plans for approval and distribution Stope evaluations Generation of Pastefill designs/fill notes Assist in completion of primary & secondary ventilation surveys Assist in preparation of ventilation memos/reports Assisting with the physicals summary of weekly report template, and highlighting/distributing variances to plan General data entry and tracking of daily production statistics. Tertiary Qualification in a Mining Related Discipline Current WA "C" class driver's license Computer literacy and business software knowledge of mine production systems and software (eg Deswik, Ventsim & Microsoft excel) 2-4 years mining industry experience Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
