ABOUT GEMCO Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production.

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Mining Engineer - Mid-Term Planning, you will lead, develop, review, and audit mine designs and stage plans that support safe, predictable production.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to: Review and optimise open pit designs and strategies in the 2YR space as updated geological grade control information becomes available including optimisation of GEMCO's economic manganese sands mining reserve.
Provide design guidance to Operations on future road networks, stockpiles (ore, topsoil, subsoil and road base) and drainage requirements.
Develop the integrated 90-day and 2YR budget mine plan schedules in support of the 5YR and LoOP plans, and encourage stakeholder alignment with the Operations, Engineering, Water Planning, Closure and Major Projects teams.
Display strong visible safety leadership and drive a culture of continuous improvement across site.
ABOUT YOU You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Solid experience in open cast mine design (or similar) and mine scheduling.
Competent with mine design and scheduling software packages (Deswik and Spry preferred).
Ability to build networks and relationships with key stakeholders across site.
Proven capability to operate in a complex environment, leading, influencing and facilitating diverse teams.
Qualifications for this position are: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent with relevant experience).
