Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. 
Job Tasks and Responsibilities Yancoal MTW is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Mining Engineer to join our team. You will be a part of our Technical Services team who are responsible for short, medium, and long term mine planning, drill and blast engineering, pit geology and survey. Our planning scope and close relationship with Mine Operations allows us to support our people to develop their skills and reach their potential.
This position is responsible for delivering quality engineering outputs in the areas of Dragline Design and Scheduling, primarily in the short-term planning (STP) team with input into the medium-term planning (MTP) team. This position requires strong involvement, communication, and engagement within our operations to ensure Dragline plans are practical and achievable whilst adding value to our business.
Reporting to the STP Senior Mining Engineer and working a Monday – Friday roster, you will be part of a successful team that enjoys what they do and value each other's contributions. The role will require:
Continuously improve the Dragline Planning System. Direct involvement in the development of the short-term Dragline Plan with involvement in the annual LOM Plan, 5 Year Plan & Budget, setting strategies and other value adding projects. Contribute to the wider Mine Planning team. Ensure compliance to legislative requirements and site standards. Assist the Technical Services team with support, mentoring and training for peers. Skills and Experience The successful candidate will display the Yancoal – 'Our Way' behaviours in everyday practice and fosters a 'One Team' culture. Along with promoting and driving the Yancoal values of People, Safety, Innovation, Integrity, and Excellence. To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
A Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or in a related engineering discipline; Previous experience in mine planning within an Open Cut Coal Mining environment; High level of computer literacy, specifically in mine planning systems - Deswik, Vulcan or similar packages; An eye for detail and an ability to develop practical and achievable mine designs and schedules; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the business; Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels; A can-do attitude which has a positive impact on culture; Advanced Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills; NSW driver's license. Dragline planning and scheduling experience. We offer competitive remuneration packages for our roles.
