KIAKA GOLD PROJECTThe Company acquired the Kiaka Gold Project (Kiaka) in 2021. Kiaka is large-scale, permitted development open pit project and hosts 7.7Moz gold Mineral Resource (280Mt at 0.9 g/t Au). Kiaka has a long-life, low-cost project averaging 219,000ozpa for 18.5 years at AISC of US$1,052/oz. Construction of the Kiaka Gold Project is well underway, including the processing mills, camp, building infrastructure, civil works, technical activities and community projects.
THE ROLEThe Company is seeking to employ an experienced Mine Geology Manager – Open Pit to lead the Open Pit Mine Geology Team at Kiaka. Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the Mine Geology Manager – Open Pit will be responsible for planning, monitoring and performance of the full range of geological functions as well as leadership of the safety and performance of the geology team.
Role responsibilities: Leadership of the open pit mine geology team.Work collaboratively with geology team personnel (Kiaka, Exploration, SOMISA and Perth office) to ensure that geological standards across open pit and underground operations, technical standards and exploration are aligned and contemporary.Oversee the mine geology team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to support in the development of skills, enhance their performance, and ensure they adhere to technical processes and safety standards in the performance of all geological activities.Develop and improve ore body knowledge by overseeing the production of appropriate 3D geological models, cross sections, plans and long sections showing interpreted and mapping of the geology and mineralisation.Develop and establish systems and procedures for safe, industry best-practice mine geology and grade control processes.Assist with the compilation and estimation of grade control, resource and reserve models for the open pit, monitor model performance and provide feedback to the relevant parties to ensure continuous improvement.Prepare monthly mine-to-mill reconciliations and reports.Contribute to short and long-term planning for the open pit operations.Proactively identify improvement opportunities of mine geology systems and processes.Produce and adhere to approved budget plan and costs for the mine geology department.Contribute to the development of near mine exploration drilling targets, resource definition and resource extension drill targets and reviewing of projects to identify resource extension opportunities and additional Resources.Management of drilling and contractor performance to ensure company objectives are achieved safely.Maintenance of production and geological databases.Develop a culture of geological technical and operational excellence.Experience and Qualifications Qualifications in Geology, or a related field.Highly developed leadership skills.An employment history which includes senior geology roles in open pit gold operations.Extensive recent experience in senior geology roles, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within open pit gold mining.Open Pit Gold mining experience is essential.Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and drive action.Bilingual – French / English (highly regarded);Experienced user of modelling and geological software, preferably Surpac, Leapfrog, Datashed and Supervisor.Roster and ConditionsThe successful applicant will be offered an excellent remuneration package commensurate with skills and experience.
